United MF Marcelo Gallardo and Galaxy F Landon Donovan were involved in an altercation late in the first half. After a hard challenge by Donovan, Gallardo swung his arms back and popped Donovan in the face, drawing blood. Both were assessed yellow cards; they exchanged jerseys after the match.
