There's no nutrition information on a box of Sinplicity ice cream. A note on the carton simply reads: "Looking for the nutrition label? Believe me, you don't want to know."
Indeed. Falls Church chef Leland Atkinson's ice creams are 17 percent fat, more than most premium or super-premium ice creams. "If it had more, we'd need to call it frozen butter," he says. Still, the new summer flavors are worth every bite. The Lemon Ginger sorbet is zingy and balanced with an earthy oomph from Jamaican rum, while the Perfectly Pomegranate is a refreshingly modern twist on a raspberry chip. The Wicked Wasabi with Grand Marnier sounds bizarre but is surprisingly delicious. Try a small scoop atop fresh mango with a drizzle of lime syrup. Pints, $5.99. Available at Balducci's, select Whole Foods Markets in Virginia and at Willoughby's Market in Sandy Spring.
