Rays: Placed SS Jason Bartlett (sprained right knee) on the 15-day disabled list and recalled IF Ben Zobrist from Class AAA Durham. Purchased the contract of SS Reid Brignac from Durham and optioned RHP Mitch Talbot to Durham.

Red Sox: Activated RHP Mike Timlin from the 15-day DL and optioned RHP Chris Smith to Class AAA Pawtucket.

Royals: Promoted J.J. Picollo to assistant general manager of scouting and player development. Picollo once served as a recruiting coordinator and a baseball instructor for five years at George Mason and George Washington universities.
