Bun: A custom-made egg bun from a local bakery. Wheat buns are available.

Atmosphere: Eco-hipster.

Verdict: The burger is big, messy and delicious. It has everything you need. Grill flavor? Check. Meat juices? Check. Loosely formed patty? Check. Lusty, crusty char? Check. Deep, beefy flavor? Check.

BGR: The Burger Joint

Meat: A blend of hormone-free, dry-aged chuck, sirloin, hanger and brisket, with at least 20 percent fat. The meat comes from a Midwestern farm where the feed is strictly controlled.

Bun: A sesame-seed potato brioche bun produced by a small local bakery.
