Closer Chad Cordero had surgery yesterday in Los Angeles and could return for spring training. Lewis Yocum repaired a frayed labrum and partial tear of the biceps tendon. Cordero, who will wear a sling for three weeks, was declared out for the season July 1. "Any pitcher who undergoes surgery, if anything is repaired, it will require a period of at least four months before he begins throwing," team orthopedist Benjamin Shaffer said.
