PERSONNEL DEPT.
Blue Jays: Placed RHP Dustin McGowan (right shoulder soreness) on the 15-day disabled list and recalled reliever Brian Wolfe from Class AAA Syracuse.
Indians: Purchased RHP Juan Rincón's contract from Class AAA Buffalo. He had a 6.75 ERA in four appearances for the Bisons.
Red Sox: RF J.D. Drew was out of the lineup against the Twins, a day after tweaking his back and leaving the game. Drew had a similar injury that forced him to miss the season-opening series in Japan, but this one is not as bad, Manager Terry Francona said.
White Sox: Placed closer Bobby Jenks (bursitis in his non-throwing shoulder) on the 15-day DL, retroactive to June 30, and purchased RHP D.J. Carrasco's contract from Class AAA Charlotte.

1932: Indians SS Johnny Burnett had a record nine hits in 11 at-bats, but the Athletics earned an 18-17 win over Cleveland in 18 innings. After Philadelphia's starter was knocked out in the first inning, Ed Rommel was forced to pitch 17 innings in relief as manager-owner Connie Mack, trying to save train fare, brought only two pitchers on the trip.
