Metro Transit Police recommended that these 30 Metrorail stations in the District, Maryland and Virginia, chosen by the number of serious crimes there, have outdoor security cameras installed. The District has provided funding to install cameras at the 10 stations in the city with the worst crime; the other jurisdictions would need to provide funding before cameras could be installed. The cost, including labor and installation, is about $12,000 a camera.
