SCHOOLS: Fulton Elementary, Lime Kiln Middle and Reservoir High schools.

HOME SALES: In the past 12 months, 47 houses have sold in Maple Lawn, said Denise Shrader, an agent with Re/Max Advantage Real Estate in Maple Lawn. The average selling price was $670,212. There are seven resale houses on the market, at an average price of $619,840, she said. Several builders also are marketing a variety of new homes.

WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE: Community park, downtown Maple Lawn, with restaurants and retail outlets, Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

WITHIN 10 TO 15 MINUTES BY CAR: The Mall in Columbia, Laurel Mall, Arundel Mills and Burtonsville

WITHIN 30 TO 40 MINUTES BY CAR: The District, Annapolis and Baltimore
