WEIGHT MANAGEMENT FOR WOMEN

Offered by Civista Women's Health Center (6) this fall. A 13-week, medically managed program. Must have an appointment with a physician or physician's assistant before participating in the program. Information night, Aug. 7, 7-8 p.m.; orientation, classes begin Sept. 4, 6:30-8 p.m., and run through Dec. 4. For information and fee information, call 301-609-5200.

PARENTS OF BLIND CHILDREN

A support group is forming for parents with children of any age who are blind and live in Calvert County. RABIES RATES IN ST. MARY'S

The St. Mary's County Health Department warns residents of a recent spike in rabies cases in the county and encourages pet owners to take measures to protect their animals. Check vaccination records to make sure rabies shots are up-to-date. Low-cost vaccination clinics are held on the second Monday of each month through November, 6-8 p.m., near the 4-H building, St. Mary's County Fairgrounds, Route 5, Leonardtown. $10 per shot. 301-373-5659 or http://www.smawl.org.

NEW FAMILY PLANNING CLINIC HOURS

The St. Mary's Health Department (12) is expanding hours for its Family Planning and Reproductive Health Clinic to serve walk-in clients needing screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. First-come, first-serve basis. 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesdays. Free. 301-475-4419.
