1 Million iPhones Sold in First 3 Days
· The company that makes iPhones announced yesterday that it had sold 1 million of the new model by Sunday, just two days after it was launched.
Apple introduced the iPhone 3G on Friday in 21 countries, including Australia, Italy, Mexico and New Zealand, and people around the world grabbed them.
The original iPhone was launched in late June 2007 in the United States only and sold about 270,000 units in its first two days.
"It took 74 days to sell the first 1 million original iPhones, so the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world," said Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive.
The new iPhone can surf the Internet faster than the original. Different models cost between $199 and $299.
Hawaiian Island Says Bon Voyage to Garbage
· Oahu, Hawaii's most populous island, is likely to ship some garbage -- about 100,000 tons a year -- to the mainland because it is running out of places to bury it.
