A man's body was found in a wooded area near a Fairfax County elementary school this morning, and police are trying to determine whether it is a 31-year-old Burke man who has been missing since last week.

A group of friends and colleagues of Mark David Radcliffe were searching for him about 7:30 a.m. when someone discovered a body not far from Bonnie Brae Elementary School on Sideburn Road, Fairfax police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said. Radcliffe had not been seen since July 6, and was reportedly distraught when he disappeared from his home not far from the school, police said.

Caldwell could not say whether the body was Radcliffe's, and no cause of death was available pending an autopsy tomorrow. She said it had not been determined whether foul play was involved.
