On Screen
Opening July 25: Nazneen's life is turned upside down in "Brick Lane" when she is forced into an arranged marriage and exchanges her Bangladeshi village home for a flat in London's East End. . . . "Brideshead Revisited" tells an evocative story of forbidden love and the loss of innocence set in the pre-World War II era. . . . "Chris & Don: A Love Story" is the true story of the passionate relationship between British writer Christopher Isherwood and American portrait painter Don Bachardy, 30 years his junior. . . . The documentary "CSNY: Deja Vu" finds Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young on their "Freedom of Speech 2006" tour, featuring music from Neil Young's controversial "Living With War" CD. . . . Brennan Huff (Will Ferrell) is a 39-year-old who lives with his mother, and Dale Doback (John C. Reilly) is an unemployed 40-year-old who lives with his father. Mom and Dad marry, and the "kids" are forced to live with each other in "Step Brothers.". . . In grand "X-Files" manner, the storyline of "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" is being kept under wraps. This much can be revealed: It is a stand-alone story that takes the complicated relationship between Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) in unexpected directions. Opening dates may change.
Last Chance
This weekend is your last chance to catch "The Mousetrap" and "Stuff Happens." Both are at Olney Theatre Center (301-924-3400). "Red Noses," by Washington Shakespeare Company at Clark Street Playhouse (800-494-8497) also closes this weekend.
Next Friday in Weekend
Washington is a city of monuments, memorials and statues. But if you stop to look, really look, you'll find so much more than guys on horses in the middle of traffic circles. Michael O'Sullivan takes Weekend readers on a tour of his 10 favorite memorials. There isn't a dude on a horse in the group -- but there are several amphibians.
