Venerable ballyard plays gracious host to ASG in possible farewell as national stage. Souvenir hunters spotted scooping up gobs of mold and putting them in baggies.

Zimmerma n Nats' 3B Ryan (shoulder) close to returning from rehab assignment. Opted against surgery, he said, because in team's clubhouse, scars had gotten too "trendy."

Running out of players

ASG nearly devolves into farce, as both teams down to last available players at end. Next AL pitcher would have been either J.D. Drew or Bob Feller.

A-Rod

Yanks' 3B, pulled from ASG, nowhere to be seen when game finally ends. When Bud Selig admonishes him for leaving early, A-Rod replies, "Papa, don't preach."

Red Sox closer Jonathan suggests he, not Yanks' Mariano Rivera, deserves to pitch ninth inning of ASG. Forgiving Yankees fans, reserved New York media shrug it off, let story die.
