Fifth-grade student Jasmine Washington-Price at Carlin Springs Elementary School was awarded the Outstanding AAA School Safety Patrol of the Year for Arlington, $150 U.S. Savings Bond and a plaque by the AAA Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education.

Williamsburg Middle School student Emily Mitchell won second place at the Technology Student Association competition in Orlando.

Three Arlington students were awarded Bridge to Success Scholarships. The awardees are Chris Hunt, Yorktown High School, Keter Betts Music Scholarship, Berklee School of Music; Adanech T. Balcha, Yorktown, Thomas B. Cookerly Scholarship, George Mason University; and Jessica Kelley, Washington-Lee High School, Thomas B. Cookerly Scholarship, University of Richmond.

Twenty-seven Arlington seniors received awards from the STAR Scholarship Foundation. $1,000 scholarships awardees are Morotina Kargbo, Elena Ponds and David Sylvester, H-B Woodlawn; Robert Mayo, Wakefield; Rebecca Bergena, Caroline Birasa, Solomon Hailu, Andrew McDaniel and Bradford McGann, Washington-Lee; Selamawit Mamo, Alexander Matta and Michael Dejene, Yorktown. $250 STAR scholarships awardees are Samuel Haileselassie, H-B Woodlawn; Brandi Hawkins and Bezawit Teferi, Wakefield; Danice Alston, Kimsue Grant, Lana Mahgoub, Aris T. Morris, Queen Nkesi, Courtney Riley and Kadijatu Turay, Washington-Lee High School; Dominique Shepherd, Filagot Taye and Abinezer Teklegiorgis, Yorktown High School. Certificates of merit recipients are Antoine Davis, H-B Woodlawn, and Lili Bekele, Yorktown High School.
