Lost Fox Pup Sheltered

GUNSTON ROAD NEAR RAMP OF INTERSTATE 395, July 14. Animal control received reports of a baby fox roaming all week without its mother in sight. The fox, last seen on Gunston Road, was trapped by animal control and taken to the shelter for care.

You Got a Bed? I Could Use a Bed

MURTHA ST.,200 block, July 14. Responding to a call about an unresponsive raccoon on the steps of a residence, animal control caught the animal as it slept and released it in the woods.

Bird on a String

STONEBRIDGE RD.,1700 block, July 11. Responding to a call about a bird in distress, an animal control officer found a grackle hanging upside down and trapped in a pine tree by a string. When the string was removed, the bird flew away.

Arlington

Unwanted Guest at Open House

26TH ST. N.,5600 block, July 13. A real estate agent with an open house called animal control about a possum that was trapped in a window well. The drop was too deep for the animal to crawl out, and it had started clawing a window screen. An animal control officer scooped the possum with a net and released it outdoors.

Trapped Fox Fed and Freed

INGLEWOOD ST. N., 1800 block, July 14. Responding to a call, animal control found a sick fox in the master bathroom of a house under construction. The animal, which appeared to have mange, might have been trapped for two days. It was taken to the shelter, where it was fed. Shelter staff contacted a wildlife rehabilitator, who treated the fox's mange. The animal was relocated to a wooded area near where it was found.
