If people "get freaked out that we're serving Thumper," it's for good reason ["A Dish That Gets Fuzzy Reception," Food, July 23].
There is no moral difference between the rabbits that people consider friends or family and the rabbit that was killed to produce the unappetizing photo accompanying the article.
It's bizarre (and, frankly, disturbing) how few people recognize the extent to which our attitudes toward animals are compartmentalized and morally inconsistent.
