Restricted free agent forward Luol Deng and the Chicago Bulls have agreed to six-year contract that could be worth $80 million.
The Bulls e-mailed a news release yesterday afternoon announcing the "contract signing of Luol Deng." No details on the deal were released.
General Manager John Paxson did not immediately return a phone call from the Associated Press.
The new deal was reported earlier by the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times and ESPN.com, which said the contract would include $71 million guaranteed.
Deng averaged 17 points and 6.3 rebounds last season, while shooting 47.9 percent.
· COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Penn State defensive tackles Chris Baker and Phil Taylor, who were involved in off-field fights last year, have been kicked off the team by Coach Joe Paterno.
Team spokesman Jeff Nelson said no information was available on why they were dismissed.
Baker and Taylor (Gwynn Park) were disciplined by the school and Paterno for the fights last year. . . .
University of Connecticut defensive tackle Jarrell Miller of Richmond, the Huskies' highest-rated recruit a year ago, has left the school. Miller left the program for "personal reasons," the school said.
· CYCLING: Italian Riccardo Ricco admitted that he made a "mistake," taking responsibility after testing positive for the blood booster EPO during the Tour de France.
