After reading Dave McKenna's not-too-favorable and rather disingenuous review of the Eagles concert at Verizon Center ["The Eagles, Not Quite Taking It to the Limit," Style, July 28], I had to wonder whether he attended the same concert that I did.
Those of us in attendance who comprise the over-50 crowd went to see the Eagles perform their old songs, but, more than that, to relish the experience of seeing a live performance by the most enduring rock group in America. Not only did the Eagles survive the last 35 years, but they sound better than ever.
We didn't care that they wore suits. I loved hearing songs from their new CD, "Long Road Out of Eden," and, far from becoming sleepy, the entire arena of 20,000 people stood up, cheered, screamed and sang along with them. We are still in awe of their ability not only to sing the old songs better than ever but to create new ones as well.
McKenna could have mentioned that the band members still have their voices and ability to play their instruments. Cheers for the Eagles. They are as enduring as any other great American institution. I would pay to see them again, again and again.
