New DVDs you can watch this weekend:

MARQUEE NAMES

· My Brother Is an Only Child (Unrated) This Italian movie set in the 1960s and '70s focuses on the love-hate relationship between two brothers, one enthralled by fascism. The Post's Desson Thomson says, "Although the movie never quite dispels the sense of being dated, it's a memorable, often moving timepiece."

· Nim's Island (PG) This refreshing adventure flick stars Abigail Breslin as an 11-year-old who lives on a tropical island with her scientist father. Jodie Foster plays a famous writer who comes to her aid. Post critic Ann Hornaday says kids will enjoy "Nim's adventures and Edenic existence. And how refreshing to see a girl embark on derring-do that, in Nim's own words, makes her the hero of her own story." Extras include deleted scenes, a "Working on Water" featurette and commentary by Breslin and Foster.

OTHERS OF NOTE

· Biography: Barack Obama; Biography: John McCain (Unrated) Just in time for the political conventions, two updated episodes from the A&E series.

· The Executioner's Song: Director's Cut (Unrated) This 1982 film features a fine performance by Tommy Lee Jones as killer Gary Gilmore, whose 1977 execution was by firing squad.

· I Got the Feelin': James Brown in the '60s (Unrated) This three-disc set features the film "The Night James Brown Saved Boston," about a concert that was broadcast live two days after the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as other performances and interviews with band members and friends.

· Joy House (Unrated) A digitally remastered version of the 1964 thriller set on the French Riviera and starring a young Jane Fonda and Alain Delon.

· The Killing of John Lennon (Unrated) This movie's good intentions and decent acting can't overcome its flaws; it loses steam halfway through when Lennon's killer, Mark David Chapman (Jonas Ball), arrives in New York.

· Pete Seeger: The Power of Song (PG) This tribute to the legendary folk singer includes archival footage, interviews with Seeger as well as with Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Joan Baez, and five short films from the Seeger family.

· Queen Sized (Unrated) Nikki Blonsky of "Hairspray" fame is back in high school once again, as an overweight girl trying to fit in.

· Wire in the Blood: Prayer of the Bone (Unrated) A feature-length film based on the BBC America crime-drama series.

FOR THE KIDS

· Garfield's Fun Fest (Unrated) Includes a comic booklet and DVD-ROM games.

· Little Einsteins: Flight of the Instrument Fairies

TV to DVD

· Animal Planet: Growing Up Safari

· Doctor Who: The Five Doctors A 25th-anniversary edition of the British science fiction program.

· He-Man and the Masters of the Universe:

Volume 3

· Lonesome Dove: 2-Disc Collector's Edition This acclaimed 1989 miniseries boasts an all-star cast: Robert Duvall, Angelica Huston, Tommy Lee Jones and Diane Lane, among others. The discs come in a wooden box, complete with flask and deck of cards.

· P.D. James: The Essential Collection Nine episodes from the PBS series adapted from the mystery writer's novels.

· Route 66: Complete 1st Season

· Star Trek the Original Series: Season 2

· Terminal City: The Complete Series This family drama series has been called the "Six Feet Under" of Canadian television.
