Aaron Boone hasn't been in Washington's starting lineup since Aug. 17, but that's exactly as the team wants it. Ideally, Boone is a bench player -- and a good one. But only in the past few days is he finally reclaiming the second part of that title. Boone had been sidelined for more than a month with a strained right calf, and when he returned to the team Aug. 14, he struggled, with just one hit in his first 14 at-bats. But twice against the Cubs last weekend, Boone delivered pinch-hits, both doubles, one of which knocked in three runs.
QUOTABLE
" He was trying to pull the ball when he came from the DL, so it's good to see him back into it."
