SEXUAL ASSAULT

BALTIMORE RD.,1300 block, 8:15 p.m. Aug. 9. A male on a jogging trail started running next to a female jogger, grabbed her buttocks and fled.

MAPLE AVE.,700 block, 12:43 a.m. Aug. 12. A male followed a woman who was entering her residence and grabbed her inappropriately. The woman screamed, and the assailant fled toward Route 28.

ROCKVILLE AREA,7:50 a.m. Aug. 7. A man on a Metro train traveling in the direction of Shady Grove sat next to a female passenger, introduced himself, touched her inappropriately and tried to kiss her. The female fled the train at the Twinbrook station and called police.

ASHLEY DR.,11800 block, 11:20 p.m. Aug. 8. Three men accosted a female acquaintance at knifepoint, took property and fled.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

DEBORAH DR.,10800 block, Aug. 11 to Aug. 12. Global Positioning System units and other property were stolen from five vehicles entered by breaking a window.

CORDELL AND WISCONSIN AVENUES,12:01 a.m. Aug. 5. A female saw a male urinating on the side of a building. The male followed the female and exposed himself to her. A male was arrested.

WISCONSIN AVE.,7900 block, 7:20 p.m. Aug. 6. Three males in a parking lot loaded a motorcycle into the back of a sport-utility vehicle. When the owner of the motorcycle confronted them, one of the males threatened him with a knife. The man backed away and called police. One male has been arrested.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

CAMBERLY AVE.,5300 block, Aug. 6. An attempt was made to enter a residence by force.

CHEVY CHASE DR.,4700 block, Aug. 6 to Aug. 7. Catalytic converters were stolen from three 1990s model Toyota 4Runners.

CORSICA DR.,9400 block, 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 7. An attempt was made to enter a residence.

EDGEFIELD RD.,4800 block, Aug. 6 to Aug. 7. Property was stolen from a residence entered by force.

KIRKDALE RD.,9000 block, 11:40 p.m. Aug. 4. Two males entered a car but were interrupted when the owner noticed a light on inside the car and confronted them. The intruders took cash from the vehicle.

16TH ST.,8500 block, Aug. 4 to Aug. 5. A 1999 Ford Taurus was stolen from a residential parking lot.

16TH ST.,8500 block, Aug. 5 to Aug. 7. An attempt was made to steal a 1998 Ford Taurus from a residential parking lot, but the car could not be started.

SEXUAL ASSAULTS

NORTHAMPTON DR.,800 block, Aug. 5. A man, 23, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree rape in an assault Dec. 30 and with fourth-degree sexual assault in an incident this year.

ASSAULTS

OUTLET DR.,13800 block, 11 a.m. Aug. 7. A male in a parking lot at a fast-food restaurant got into a fight with another male. When the victim's sister tried to break up the fight, a female relative of the assailant threatened to harm the victim with a sharp object. A woman, 47, and her son, 27, were arrested.

PINEY BRANCH RD.,8600 block, 1 a.m. Aug. 10. Two men assaulted a male, struck a male with a bottle and fled.

CARJACKINGS

BRIGGS CHANEY RD.,800 block, Aug. 5 to Aug. 6. An attempt was made to enter a classroom trailer at an elementary school.

GEORGIA AVE.,7900 block, 2:32 a.m. Aug. 10. Four men, two armed with knives, accosted a male on a moped, punched him and demanded cash. The driver fought off his attackers and drove away. The men fled in a white Jeep.

GRAND PRE RD.,14100 block, 10:30 p.m. Aug. 12. Four people carjacked a vehicle, forced the owner to withdraw cash from an ATM and then released him. Police chased the vehicle into the District. Four males were arrested.

ROBBERIES

CASTLE BLVD.,13800 block, 10:45 p.m. Aug. 12. Two males attacked two pedestrians and tried to take a woman's purse from her arm. After a struggle, the assailants fled empty-handed.

COLUMBIA PIKE,15700 block, 9:01 p.m. Aug. 12. A male tried to rob an electronics store with a BB gun. A store employee fought with the gunman, and the assailant fled empty-handed.

STEWART LANE,11600 block, 3:50 p.m. Aug. 5. Two males accosted a pedestrian and asked him for cash. When the pedestrian said he had no cash, one of the assailants threatened him with a knife. The assailants fled empty-handed.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

CARROLL AVE.,8700 block, 11:41 p.m. Aug. 5. A male entered an elementary school by force, took property and fled.

COTTRELL TERR.,9900 block, 10:45 p.m. Aug. 5. A male tried to enter a residence but fled when a motion light activated.

DEERFIELD, DENNIS, EAST MELBOURNE AND EAST FRANKLIN AVENUES, WOODLAND AND TENBROOK DRIVES AND ELKHART ST., Aug. 5 to Aug. 11. Global Positioning System units, tools, stereo equipment, wheels and cash were stolen from vehicles entered by force. In four of the incidents, Toyota and Lexus vehicles were targeted.

IVYWOOD LANE,13700 block, 11 p.m. Aug. 7. A man entered a residence by force but fled when a resident heard noise and came to investigate. Nothing was reported missing.

LOCKWOOD DR., TECH RD. AND COLUMBIA PIKE, Aug. 5 to Aug. 9. Property, including Global Positioning System units, cellphones, computer equipment, cash and jewelry, was stolen from vehicles.

MARLOW FARM TERR.,2900 block, 10:42 p.m. Aug. 7. Property was stolen from a residence entered by force.

NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE.,12800 block, 4:30 a.m. Aug. 7. Property was stolen from a pharmacy entered by force.

PRETORIA DR.,12300 block, noon Aug. 4. A man was seen entering a residence by force. The robber took property and fled in a blue Honda.

ROBEY RD., MOZART AND MUSIC MASTER DRIVES, BALLET AND DUNES WAY, OLD COLUMBIA PIKE AND BERLEIGH HILL CT., Aug. 5 to Aug. 11. Property, including Global Positioning System units, computer equipment, cash and stereo equipment, was stolen from vehicles. Most of the vehicles were entered by prying open or breaking a window.

SIERRA ST.,9400 block, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 10. Property was stolen from a residence.

SPENCERVILLE RD.,2800 block, 9 p.m. Aug. 4 to 6:30 a.m. Aug. 5. A garage at a residence was entered, and a vehicle was stolen. A man was arrested.

SWEET CLOVER CT.,2700 block, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 5. Property was stolen from a residence entered by force.

WHITTINGTON AND LOXFORD TERRACES, AND PLAYFORD LANE, Aug. 9 to Aug. 11. Property, including a cellphone, lawn equipment, computer equipment, a digital music player and a Global Positioning System device, was stolen from three Ford vehicles entered by force.

MEDWAY ST. AND JUDSON RD.,10:20 a.m. Aug. 6. A man approached a girl sitting outside and offered her a controlled dangerous substance. The girl refused and got up to leave. The man followed her and touched her inappropriately.

KERWIN RD.,700 block, Aug. 8. An aggravated domestic assault with a kitchen knife occurred.

NORTH GATE DR.,13800 block, 2:35 p.m. Aug. 8. An aggravated domestic assault with a vehicle occurred.

ROBBERIES

AMHERST AVE.,2:30 a.m. Aug. 11. A group of males outside a convenience store followed a man who left the store, hit him with a bottle, took property and fled.

PRINCE PHILIP DR. AND SPARTAN RD.,8:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Three males accosted a male pedestrian, struck him on the head, robbed him and fled. The pedestrian sustained a head injury.

WINDSONG LANE, Aug. 9 to Aug. 10. A person who was invited to spend the night at the residence of an acquaintance went into the bedroom of a girl, 14, and tried to touch her inappropriately. The girl screamed, and the assailant fled.

APPERSON WAY,11500 block, 11:15 p.m. Aug. 7. Two males with a handgun accosted a pizza deliveryman and demanded cash. The assailants fled after they obtained property.

APPERSON WAY,11500 block, 4:30 a.m. Aug. 12. Two males accosted a male driver sitting in his vehicle, opened the door and took property from him and fled. A male was arrested nearby.

EAGLES ROOST DR.,18500 block, 9 p.m. Aug. 7. Two men grabbed a male pedestrian, struck him with an unknown object, took property and fled.

FREDERICK RD.,19500 block, 9:34 p.m. Aug. 5. Three males attacked a male riding a bike, hit him with an unknown object, took property and fled.

CALENDONIA COURT, Aug. 4 to Aug. 5. A radar detector and CDs were among items stolen from two vehicles. One of the vehicles was unlocked, and the other was entered by breaking a window.

SEXUAL ASSAULTS

NORTH SUMMIT DRIVE, Aug. 7. A rape occurred. Police report it was domestic in nature.

WASHINGTON GROVE LANE AND EMORY GROVE RD.,17800 block, 9:40 p.m. Aug. 19. A male accosted a female pedestrian, 29, pulled her into a nearby wooded area and raped her. The woman called police immediately after the assault. K-9 units, officers on foot and a Maryland State Police helicopter searched for the assailant.

HORIZON RD.,9600 block, 5:25 p.m. Aug. 6. Three men robbed a person at knifepoint in a parking lot, took property and fled.

MILLS CHOICE RD.,4:45 p.m. Aug. 6. A person accosted a man, pushed him to the ground, took his property and fled.

APPLE RIDGE RD.,10300 block, 2 a.m. Aug. 6. A car stereo was stolen from a vehicle entered by breaking a window.

BAZZELLTON PL.,19800 block, 3 a.m. Aug. 12. Two DVD screens were stolen from a vehicle. A witness saw several people use a rock to break the car window.

KIRKLYNN AVE.,1200 block, 9:30 to 9:50 p.m. Aug. 17. Two males accosted a male at gunpoint, struck him in the head and face, took property and fled.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE.,7600 block, 11:01 a.m. Aug. 18. A man took property from boxes placed outside a store without paying for the items. A man was arrested and charged with theft under $50.

POPLAR AVE.,6600 block, 9:30 a.m. Aug. 18 to 7 a.m. Aug. 19. Property was stolen from a vehicle entered by force.
