The Picture Of Negligence

Saturday, August 30, 2008

The Post seems to be striking out with photographs of people in traffic-related situations.

First, a photograph showed a woman bicycling to work in heavy traffic but without a helmet [Free for All, Aug. 9].

Second, a large photograph accompanying an interesting article on a lengthy walk across Washington [Weekend, Aug. 22] showed the author and his companion jaywalking across the middle of the block on 13th Street NW, a busy artery.

Third, the Weekend section struck again yesterday, with a cover illustration of two people sitting in a bucolic scene, their bicycles and stuff right behind them -- with nary a helmet in sight.

What's next? A photo of a teenage driver sending text messages while changing lanes on the Beltway during rush hour?
