ALL GAMES ON WWWT (107.7 FM, 1500 AM)

PERSONNEL DEPT.

1B Dmitri Young, who hasn't played since the all-star break while trying to recover from complications related to his diabetes, began a rehab assignment yesterday with Class A Vermont. The Lake Monsters' season ends on Saturday; after that, Young will likely join the Nationals, GM Jim Bowden said. The Nationals also transferred OF Wily Mo Peña (shoulder injury), from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list, opening a spot on the 40-man roster.

QUOTABLE

"I really don't want to do it. I could always step back and say I'm not going to be the first one or the last one, and greater coaches than myself have lost 100. But I really don't want to do it, and we're going to push hard. That is a round number that is in front of us that we really don't want to go for."

Manager Manny Acta, on avoiding 100 losses
