David Spade's Stork Has Landed

It's official: David Spade is a dad.

The "Rules of Engagement" actor's former flame, Playboy playmate Jillian Grace, 22, gave birth to a girl in Missouri last week, Spade's rep confirmed to People magazine.

"David and Jillian have been in close contact throughout her pregnancy, and he plans to go see the baby during his first break from shooting," Spade's rep said. The baby's name was not provided.

In January, Grace announced that she was pregnant and named Spade, 44, as the father. Spade confirmed that he had a brief relationship with Grace and said then that he would accept responsibility for the child if he was proved to be its father. The baby was born Aug. 26.

On MTV, Britney . . . One More Time

Despite her nearly unwatchable train wreck of a performance at last year's MTV Video Music Awards, the network confirms that Britney Spears will kick off the show again.

But (luckily?) she won't be performing. Instead, MTV Networks Music Group President Van Toffler said, it'll be something "fun and unexpected" on Sunday night's show.

"I think for Britney, people are rooting for her, and she's really on the road to recovery," Toffler said, noting that she is up for three awards, including video of the year, for "Piece of Me." "It feels like it's her year."

Has Oprah's Mom Racked Up Bills?

"O" no! Valentina, a high-end clothing store in Brookfield, Wis., has sued Oprah Winfrey's mother, claiming that she failed to pay her bill.

The civil complaint says Vernita Lee of Milwaukee owed Valentina nearly $156,000 in purchases and interest as of July 1 and has failed to make the monthly minimum payment of $2,000. The store's attorney says his client tried to resolve the matter with Lee before filing suit in Waukesha County Circuit Court.

The suit claims that Lee told store officials she doesn't think she owes the money. Meanwhile, Valentina co-owner Tony Chirchirillo says a $150,000 bill isn't unusual for a client with a full calendar of social events.

When reached by the Associated Press, Lee declined to comment. A nonbinding mediation session is set for Sept. 16.
