Verizon Wireless ( NYSE: VZ) made a trio of announcements to kick off CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment 2008 in San Francisco this week.

-- SocialLife: The carrier is offering a new application to access multiple social networking sites through SocialLife, a mobile client it's launching at CTIA with its partner Intercasting. The application will enable users to view messages, approve or deny friend requests, post comments or photos, and update status or profiles on their mobile phones. SocialLife works with MySpace, AsianAve, BlackPlanet, FaithBase, GLEE, LiveJournal, MiGente, Photobucket, Rabble and MTV Tr3s. SocialLife costs $1.49 a month.

-- Ringback Buddies: Verizon Wireless is integrating Ringback Buddies, an application that allows customers to browse, purchase and manage their ringback tones, within the Facebook platform. Through the application, subscribers will be able to view their friends favorite music and purchase those tracks so they can hear them when they call. Facebook users can install the application for free online or directly on Verizon's Facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/verizon). Ringback tones cost $1.99 a year and a 99-cent monthly subscription fee applies for the service.

-- City ID: Caller ID on select Verizon Wireless phones will now display the city and state of incoming calls, the carrier announced. The service, which is initially slated to rollout on the LG (SEO: 066570) Voyager, is provided by Cequint, a Seattle-based company that holds information on more than 20,000 cities in North America. City ID will cost $1.99 a month. The carrier plans to extend the service to more device in the coming months.
