Remembering Victims of 9/11
Leesburg and Purcellville will have memorial ceremonies tonight to mark the seventh anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks. Both events are free and open to the public. The Leesburg ceremony, at 7 p.m. on the Town Green, will include remarks by the mayor and police chief. Freedom Memorial, at 101 Granada Cir., will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Virginia Attorney General Robert F. McDonnell will speak at Purcellville's ceremony, at 7:30 p.m. at Purcellville Town Hall.
Leesburg Throws a Birthday Party
Help Leesburg celebrate its 250th birthday at a party on the Town Green from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The festivities will include confetti cannons, children's games, live music and an announcement of the winner of Leesburg's flag design contest. Admission is free. Call 703-737-7144 for information.
