Public Hearing Scheduled On Five D.C. Properties

The D.C. Department of Housing and Community Development will hold a public hearing to discuss the disposition of five properties to David Berhardt LLC. The meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 15, at 801 North Capitol St. SE, in the ninth-floor conference room.

The properties are: 475 Florida Ave. NW, 1504 Sixth St. NW, 1001 Quebec St. NW, 1713 New Jersey Ave. NW and 805 Seventh St. NE.

Residents are invited to submit comments about the disposition to: Andrea Lee, 801 North Capitol St. NE, Washington, D.C. 20002. Opinions can also be voiced at the hearing.

National Bus Tour Offers Free Financial Advice

To help combat property foreclosures and consumer debt, a national bus tour is providing free financial advice. The Your Money Bus Tour will kick off from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the National Museum of the American Indian, 950 Independence Ave. SW.

The tour is sponsored by the National Association of Personal Finance Advisors' Consumer Education Foundation, TD Ameritrade Institutional and Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine. Financial advisers will provide literature and discuss financial literacy, debt reduction and saving strategies. The bus tour will also make stops next Thursday at other locations in the Washington area.

Web Site Provides Guide To Region's Arts Events

The Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington recently launched Culturecapital.com, an online guide to the region's many arts and cultural organizations.

The site lists shows, performances, tours, classes and exhibitions presented by more than 300 arts and cultural groups in the District, Maryland and Virginia. Visitors can search for ticketed or free events by date, region or type of program.

"Cataloging 10,000 events on one Web site makes it extremely easy for people to experience the abundance of arts and culture offered in the greater Washington, D.C., region," said Jennifer Cover Payne, president of the Cultural Alliance, a consortium of nonprofit arts groups.

Court Offering Access To Mental Health Services

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington will host an open house from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 2 in Room 115 of D.C. Superior Court, 500 Indiana Ave. NW.

Members of the mental health and judicial community are invited to learn about the new Court Urgent Care Clinic, which offers access to mental health services for detainees who show signs of mental illness or drug and alcohol abuse. The project is a partnership of the D.C. Department of Mental Health, the D.C. Superior Court and the Psychiatric Institute of Washington.
