Rays: OF Carl Crawford was activated from the disabled list after sitting out 1 1/2 months because of a finger injury that required surgery. Crawford injured a tendon in the middle finger of his right hand on Aug. 9 when he checked his swing against Seattle.
Twins:3B Brian Buscher was replaced in the field by Brendan Harris to start the fifth inning after complaining of dizziness.
Change of Plans
The Red Sox scratched RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka from last night's scheduled start against the Yankees after the game was repeatedly delayed by rain. He was replaced by RHP David Pauley.
Slugger David Ortiz also was scratched from the lineup. With Mike Lowell returning from an injury as the designated hitter, Ortiz had been scheduled to play first base for the first time this season.
