Maryland at No. 20 Clemson, noon, WDCA (Channel 20), WJZ (Channel 13); North Carolina at Miami (Fla.), noon, ESPN2; No. 13 South Florida at North Carolina State, 7:30 p.m., ESPNU; Virginia Tech at Nebraska, 8 p.m., WJLA (Channel 7).
North Carolina State pulled off a considerable upset last weekend when it knocked off media darling East Carolina. If the Wolfpack is going to pull off another surprising victory today against South Florida, it will have to do so without starting quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Nate Irving. Both are injured and will not play. Harrison Beck will start for Wilson, the reigning ACC offensive player of the week. North Carolina Coach Butch Davis will return to Miami, the school he led with great success from 1995 to 2000. Virginia Tech, meanwhile, will take on its second opponent in as many weeks that is in full rebuilding mode, Nebraska. Against Maryland, Clemson quarterback Cullen Harper will attempt to fend off critics clamoring to see backup Willy Korn take over.
