The most memorable Redskins-Cowboys games at Texas Stadium:
Dec. 16, 1979 -- Cowboys 35, Redskins 34
QB Roger Staubach rallied Dallas with two touchdowns in the final 2 minutes 20 seconds. The loss, coupled with Chicago's 36-point victory over St. Louis, knocked Washington out of a playoff berth. Cowboys DE Harvey Martin tossed a funeral wreath in the visitors' locker room following the game.
Nov. 28, 1974 -- Cowboys 24, Redskins 23
With Staubach knocked out of the game, backup QB Clint Longley directed Dallas to one of the most improbable wins in franchise history. Nicknamed the "Mad Bomber," Longley completed a 50-yard touchdown to Drew Pearson in the closing seconds to stun Washington and keep the Redskins from clinching a playoff spot.
Sept. 19, 2005 -- Redskins 14, Cowboys 13
Dallas had not allowed a point through 56 minutes and appeared well on its way to a 10th straight victory over Washington at Texas Stadium. But QB Mark Brunell completed a 39-yard touchdown pass to Santana Moss on fourth down and a 70-yarder to Moss on Washington's ensuing possession to shock Dallas.
Oct. 19, 1987 -- Redskins 13, Cowboys 7
Washington used replacement players while most NFL union players were on strike and beat a Dallas team that included future Hall of Famers Tony Dorsett and Randy White, and veteran QB Danny White -- all of whom crossed the picket line. The Cowboys marched to the Redskins 14 on their final drive, but the defense held with two seconds to play.
Nov. 16, 1997 -- Cowboys 17, Redskins 14
Washington was ahead 14-6 with less than six minutes to play before QB Troy Aikman led a 97-yard touchdown drive plus a two-point conversion to tie. The Redskins ran three plays but couldn't get a first down, and after a poor punt, the Cowboys drove deep into Washington territory to set up Richie Cunningham's winning 42-yard field goal with four seconds to play.
