When Virginia Tech cornerback Macho Harris saw strong safety Davon Morgan crying on the sideline Saturday, Harris became fearful. "That's like my little brother," Harris said. "It hurt just to see him hurt."

Morgan's injury was first diagnosed as a sprained right knee, but after the Hokies' 35-30 win at Nebraska it was announced he suffered a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament. Morgan, a sophomore, cannot redshirt this year because he already has played more than 20 percent of the season. The Hokies' secondary likely will move forward with junior Dorian Porch. Morgan recorded 18 tackles, as well as a fumble recovery, before the injury. . . .

Since missing a field goal and an extra point in a season-opening loss to East Carolina, Virginia Tech place kicker Dustin Keys has kicked two game-winning field goals. On Saturday against Nebraska, he made four field goals. . . .

According to the Oregon State student directory, former Virginia quarterback Peter Lalich is now enrolled at the Corvallis, Ore., university. Lalich transferred after being dismissed from the Virginia football team for an alcohol-related offense.
