Bike About: The Oxon Hill Bicycle and Trail Club is holding a bike tour Oct. 12 that will start and end in La Plata. Choose routes of 14, 33, 60, 80 or 100 miles. Registration fee before Oct. 12 is $30. Registration on the day of the race is $35. Proceeds will benefit renovation of the Civista Medical Center. On Oct. 26, the club is sponsoring a bike and sightseeing tour along the Anacostia Tributary Trails System in Bladensburg Waterfront Park. Starting at 9 a.m. there will be rides of 8, 10, 14 or 35 miles, followed by pontoon boat rides.
Talking Fish: Tom Hughes, one of the leading guides on the Chesapeake Bay, is the guest speaker at Wednesday's meeting of the National Capital Chapter of Trout Unlimited. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Bethesda Chevy Chase Services Center, 4805 Edgemoor Lane, behind the Bethesda Metro stop. Hughes will discuss fly- and light-tackle fishing at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, where there are plenty of striped bass, sea trout and bluefish.
