Second Thoughts on a Smoking Ban

With Atlantic City revenues plunging, the city is considering whether to put off a blanket ban on smoking in casinos. The ban goes into effect Oct. 15, but the council will discuss tomorrow whether to delay that. Casino owners opposed the total ban, arguing that it would hurt their business and cut into the taxes they pay to the city and New Jersey.

IN FACT Casinos currently must restrict smoking to no more than 25 percent of a gambling floor.
