A motorist was shot yesterday morning after a two-car crash at a quiet residential intersection in eastern Montgomery County, county police said.
The shooting occurred shortly before 10 a.m. at Montvale Drive and Flannery Lane, in the Colesville area.
The motorist was taken to a hospital with an arm wound that was not considered life-threatening, police said. Preliminary investigation indicated that the victim and his attacker "are known to each other," police said. Neither was identified.
Neighbors telephoned police after hearing gunshots and seeing a collision of the victim's car and the car driven by the attacker. Two other people were in that car, police said.
Police said the alleged attacker and the other two in his car were taken into custody.
As of last night, no charges had been filed, they said.
Several residents of the neighborhood, which is northwest of New Hampshire Avenue and Randolph Road, said the incident was surprising and unusual in what they called a middle-class neighborhood populated by families with children. "We've lived here nine years," one said, and "haven't experienced anything like this."
