Chat Plus: Sanibel Island, Fla.

Sunday, October 12, 2008

During our online chat (most Mondays at 2 p.m.), you ask and we answer your travel questions -- mostly. Here's one we couldn't get to last week.

Heading down to Sanibel Island, Fla., next week for some much-needed R&R. Never been before. Things I shouldn't miss while I'm there?

You probably know about the seashell thing (Sanibel's beaches are strewn with more than 400 varieties, and collectors are famous for assuming the "Sanibel stoop"), but birding is huge there, too, at the popular J.N. "Ding" Darling Natural Wildlife Refuge. Biking is also popular, as are boating, fishing and snorkeling. Don't overthink it: This is one laid-back island. More info: http://www.fortmyers-sanibel.com.
