Some fans of the series "Friday Night Lights" are outraged that I've resumed weekly updates after watching on DirecTV because they're hoping to see the episodes in full when NBC picks up the series in February. Then there's the matter of booster Buddy Garrity, who only wants to spend big money on a new scoreboard when the school needs textbooks.
Say it ain't so. Just when I was going to recommend the Dillon Panthers hire you as an assistant coach, you refer to Buddy Garrity as Buddy McGarrity last Sunday.
You must have mistaken Garrity for "It's Academic" quiz show host Mac McGarry, who has been hosting the show since Walter Johnson was pitching for the Senators. Given that "FNL" was off the air for such a long time, you may not be in peak shape yet.
Malcolm Lester, Washington
I apologize for the error and only have praise for my favorite booster bully, as well as McGarry, who has been hosting "It's Academic" since 1961.
And while I'm apologizing, sorry about listing Cincinnati as a future foe of the Redskins last week when I should have written Cleveland. As former Bengals Coach Sam Wyche once said, "Cincinnati is not Cleveland."

I have no sympathy for all the whining about the curse of the Cubs. It seems that every time a team of underachievers gets bounced, their backers believe they're cursed. They should speak to Mr. Tony (Kornheiser) about his Curse of Les Boulez, which appears to be in full force given Gilbert's knee, Brendan's wrist and Antawn's knee woes. Kornheiser once heard from a guy who had the perfect first-round pick for the Bullets -- a player no one had ever heard of. When Tony asked why the Bullets should pick this guy, the caller replied, "because currently he's in a body cast."

Kornheiser needs to get rid of this curse -- for the sake of the city.

As you wrote, I also miss the Nats. I imagine how cool it would be to attend some October games in Washington. I am confident the team's management will improve the on-field product during the offseason and I can't wait for April -- and perhaps a chance to get to the playoffs before too long.
Fred Klein, Potomac
In our lifetime? But if the Rays can do it, why not?
