A weekly playlist for the listener with a one-track mind.
Psapp:"The Monster Song" London's tyrants of twee return with an uncharacteristically ominous, Halloween-ready song about (probably) metaphorical monsters.
RZA as Bobby Digital featuring Thea & Monk:"Drama" (Spoolwork remix) Chicagoan Dave Fischoff (who records under the nom de remix Spoolwork) gives this newish but depressingly topical RZA track a restrained reworking.
Girlie featuring Lil Wayne:"Girlie's Got It" The shout-out to Kim Kardashian, the suddenly cringe-worthy references to bling, the appearance of Lil Wayne: Is Atlanta rapper Girlie's new track the most inappropriate song of the month? All signs point to yes.
Apples in Stereo:"(Baby It's) So Cold" This maybe-new, definitely excellent new track from everyone's second-favorite Elephant 6ers sounds like a Stones song mixed with the Chipmunks mixed with Darlene Love mixed with every other E6 band in creation.
DJ Lobsterdust:"Pussycats Gone to Heaven" Evil genius-crustacean DJ Lobsterdust mashes up the Pussycat Dolls' "When I Grow Up" with the Pixies' "Monkey Gone to Heaven." Considering how things could have turned out, the results are surprisingly unobjectionable.
