The organic eco-cafe Java Green was voted best vegetarian restaurant for the second consecutive year in VegDC.com's second annual Three Green Stars awards, honoring vegetarian foods made and served in the Washington area. The downtown eatery also won top marks for serving the best vegan burger.
Amsterdam Falafel Shop in Adams Morgan earned a pair of titles as well, for best falafel and best cheap vegan eats.
The VegDC.com Web site was launched in 2000 by Compassion Over Killing, a nonprofit animal advocacy group based in Washington. The group produces an annual vegetarian guide for the metro area.
