Parking, Traffic Restrictions in Georgetown for Halloween

Traffic will be diverted on numerous blocks in Georgetown and nearby areas today and tonight as police work to control crowds expected for Halloween celebrations. Parking restrictions also will be in effect on stretches of K Street, Wisconsin Avenue and other Northwest streets.

Police are urging people to take public transportation to activities in Georgetown, saying that only residents and business employees will be permitted to drive on certain blocks -- and then only with proof of residency or work identification.

The blocks will be closed to through traffic from 6:30 p.m. today until 4 a.m. Saturday, police said. Parking restrictions take effect at noon and run until 6 a.m. Saturday. A complete list of the affected blocks is available on the police department's Web site.
