WHAT IS A FIORD?
A fiord is long, narrow inlet from the sea that's bordered by steep, high cliffs. It has been gouged out by a glacier. Fiords cut deep scars across the Scandinavian coastline; they also can be found in New Zealand, Alaska and Canada.
