A man and woman who left their 7-month-old infant alone in a car for over an hour while they were in a Sterling pool hall were charged with child neglect over the weekend, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said today.
Michael J. Budroe, 43, of Ashburn, and Kristen B. Emanuel, 42, of Kansas got in a fight in a parking lot at 46300 McClellan Way shortly before 1:40 a.m. Saturday, sheriff's office spokesman Kraig Troxell said. Concerned observers, fearing for Emanuel's safety, sought to break up the fight and called authorities, who found the infant girl in the car.
There were no apparent injuries to Emanuel or the baby, who was taken to a hospital as a precaution, Troxell said. Budroe and Emanuel were each charged with felonious child neglect. Budroe was also charged with disorderly conduct. Both are being held without bond.
The infant is in the custody of Child Protective Services.
