Verdicts on the Election Coverage

There are so many ways in which The Post could have approached the story about Sen. Obama's aunt living illegally in Boston ["Disclosure About Obama's Aunt May Have Broken Federal Law," news story, Nov. 2]. For example, you might have questioned what her donations to his campaign say about the senator's vaunted fundraising apparatus and its apparent inability to track multiple illegal donations. But your story echoed the Obama campaign response.
I don't recall that The Post even questioned how Joe Wurzelbacher's personal information was made public, much less whether it was legal or appropriate to report it. One man is a private citizen; The Post endorsed the other for president. William Randolph Hearst would have been proud.
