For the second straight season, St. Stephen's/St. Agnes completed what it calls the "trifecta" -- winning the Independent School League regular season title, the ISL tournament title and the Virginia Independent School Athletic Association title.

The Saints (22-0-1) were crowned champions of the latter yesterday with a 1-0 win at Collegiate. Senior captain Chelsea Pasfield scored the lone goal midway through the first half and senior Ashley Hunter was named the tournament's most valuable player for her ability to control the midfield. "This one is basically unbelievable," Saints Coach Marsha Way said. "It took us so long to get the trifecta, and to get it back-to-back is just unbelievable."

WCAC members Gonzaga and St. John's have the longest-running Catholic high school football rivalry in the Washington area. The teams met again yesterday in the regular season finale for each team, with St. John's winning, 27-14. See highlights and more about the rivalry in a video that will be posted later today at http://washingtonpost.com/highschools.
