Oden Back in Action for the Trail Blazers

Thursday, November 13, 2008

Greg Oden returned to the Trail Blazers for last night's matchup with the Heat, following a six-game absence because of a sprained right foot suffered in the season opener.

The hard-luck center was the No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA draft, then missed all of last season following knee surgery and only managed to play 13 minutes against the Lakers in his long-awaited debut last month.

Oden, 19, was not in the Blazers' starting lineup, coming off the bench to score three points and grab two rebounds in 16 minutes.

· THUNDER: F Kevin Durant missed the game against the Magic because of a sore left ankle.

Coach P.J. Carlesimo said Durant is day-to-day and his status for tomorrow's game at New York is up in the air. Desmond Mason started in his place and scored 12 points.

· BOBCATS: Scoring leader Jason Richardson will be out about a week following arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

Richardson underwent an exploratory procedure after complaining about inflammation. A team spokesman said no structural damage was found, but Richardson will miss tomorrow's game against Utah and is doubtful for Sunday's game against Orlando.

· BULLS: Rookie G Derrick Rose is sitting out practice to rest a sore back but expects to play today against the Mavericks.

Rose started getting back spasms before Tuesday night's loss to Atlanta but still played 42 minutes and matched his career high with 26 points.

· HEAT: F Shawn Marion sat out against the Trail Blazers because of continued problems with a strained groin. He could return tomorrow when Miami hosts Washington.
