Space Station Expansion Underway
· Astronauts who rocketed to the international space station started work yesterday on a project that will expand the orbiting station's crew from three to six people next year.
The astronauts flew to the station aboard the space shuttle Endeavour and docked on Sunday, two days after taking off from Earth.
Yesterday they hauled onto the station items including a new toilet and a machine that turns urine and sweat into drinkable water. Endeavour also delivered an exercise machine, kitchenette and two sleeping compartments.
Researchers Advise: Put a Song in Your Heart· Songs that people love to listen to can be good for their heart, researchers at the University of Maryland reported last week at a medical convention.
When blood vessels expand, blood flows more smoothly and is less likely to cause damaging clots.
Doctors at the school's medical center in Baltimore said that when subjects in a test heard music they liked, their blood vessels opened by 26 percent, on average.
When the test subjects listened to music they did not like, their vessels narrowed by 6 percent, on average.
