The Washington chapter of Women Chefs and Restaurateurs opted for head shots instead of racier "Calendar Girls" photos for its 2009 "Crowning Cuisine" calendar and recipe collection, co-sponsored by Visa Signature and now on sale for $12 in participating chefs' restaurants and online at http://www.womenchefs.org.

Proceeds from the sales will go toward the organization's scholarship programs.

At a WCR reception Nov. 9 at Willow restaurant in Arlington, Adrian and Brooke Braun of Arlington won the enviable calendar-related grand prize: a year's worth of culinary experiences hosted by the calendar's 23 featured participants, including Ris Lacoste, Nora Pouillon, Odessa Piper, Quanta Robinson, Kate Jansen and Heather Chittum.
