Montgomery County detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found this morning in an apartment building stairwell in the Briggs Chaney area of Silver Spring.
Police said two men were seen carrying what appeared to be a body into the building.
Starting about 1:30 a.m., police received two calls reporting suspicious activity in the 13900 block of Castle Boulevard. Officers arrived at the apartment building to find a woman who was unconscious and unresponsive, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police described the victim as a black female, believed to be a young adult, 5 feet 5 inches tall with a medium build and medium length black hair. She was wearing bluejeans and a gray T-shirt with the word "Fender" stenciled across the front, according to police.
The state medical examiner's office in Baltimore will determine the cause and manner of death, police said.
Detectives said they have not been able to locate the person who called to report the incident but would like to do so in order to interview them. They also want to speak with two occupants of a red Lexus that was reported to be in the area at the time of the call, police said.
Detectives are asking anyone who can help identify the victim or provide information about this incident to call 240-773-5070.
