Montgomery County
A message from county police: From Oct. 14 to Nov. 4, there were 56 incidents of theft from vehicles in the 6th District, Montgomery Village area. Items stolen included Global Positioning System devices, cellphones, satellite radios, cash and credit cards.
Montgomery County police urge residents: · Never leave property on display in your car. If you don't take it with you, lock it in your trunk.
· Always lock your vehicle, even if you are away from it for only a short time.
· If you have an alarm, turn it on every time you park.
· Park your vehicle in well-lit areas if possible.
· If you have removable stereos, satellite radios or GPS systems, do not leave them on display. Make a note of the serial number and keep it in a safe place.
· Always report a suspicious person or activity as soon as it occurs to the police non-emergency number, 301-279-8000. In an emergency, dial 911.

ASSAULTSDOVER RD., 14800 block, 2:45 to 3:20 p.m. Oct. 29. A car owner, whose vehicle had been towed, found a person inside the vehicle. The car owner attempted to stop the person from driving but was struck by the car. The driver was arrested nearby.

ELLSWORTH DR., 900 block, 9:45 p.m. Nov. 1. Three males accosted a male they had argued with earlier. They beat and stabbed him with a sharp object and fled.
ROBBERIESCOLESVILLE RD., 8600 block, 5:44 p.m. Oct. 29. A male and a female entered a cellphone business and attempted to take property. When an employee approached, the two sprayed him in the face with mace, dropped the property and fled empty-handed.
CROSS RIVER CT., 14800 block, 8:16 p.m. Oct. 30. Two males armed with a handgun accosted a pedestrian and demanded property. The pedestrian complied, and the assailants fled.
DUNWOOD TERR., 4200 block, 9:20 p.m. Oct. 31. Four males accosted a pedestrian, took his wallet and cash and fled.
GROVE ST. AND THAYER AVE., 12:15 to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Three men accosted a male pedestrian at gunpoint, took property and fled in a waiting car.

JULY DR., 11400 block, 7:04 p.m. Nov. 1. Three men approached a man and asked him for change. One of them grabbed the man's arm and tried to kick him. The man escaped, and the assailants fled.
NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE., 11100 block, 7:53 p.m. Oct. 30. Three males in a restroom at a fast-food restaurant attacked a man, took cash and fled.
OLD COLUMBIA PIKE, 12000 block, 7:47 p.m. Nov. 1. Five males accosted a man after he got off a bus. They assaulted the man, searched his pockets, took his wallet and portable music player and fled.
OLD COLUMBIA PIKE AND TREETOP VIEW TERR., 8:13 p.m. Oct. 28. Four or five males accosted a female. One of them grabbed the purse from her arm, and they fled to a wooded area.
SCARLET SAGE CT., 1 to 100 block, and MCKNEW RD., 14800 block, 7:34 to 8:34 p.m. Oct. 31. Two males armed with a weapon accosted two food delivery people and demanded cash and food. The delivery people complied, and the assailants fled.
SWEET CLOVER DR., 12100 block, 11 a.m. Oct. 28. A male threatened a man with a gun and demanded his wallet. The man complied, and the assailant fled.
UNIVERSITY BLVD., 300 block, 8:27 p.m. Oct. 30. Three males wearing hooded sweatshirts accosted a male pedestrian and beat him until the man fell to the ground. The assailants tried to take his property but fled empty-handed.

Three people outside a family entertainment center, wearing Halloween masks, accosted a male employee walking to his vehicle, assaulted him and demanded cash. Two males accosted a male youth outside a fast-food restaurant, demanded his cellphone, assaulted him and fled.
RESEARCH BLVD., 2600 block, Oct. 30. An argument between relatives at a hotel escalated when one threatened the other with a razor. The assailant was arrested and charged with armed robbery.
STEDWICK RD., 10400 block, 10:20 p.m. Oct. 31. Five males wearing white masks and black hooded sweat shirts threatened two boys, put a knife to the chest of one of the boys, took cash and fled.
