American cruised past Howard, 77-50, last night at Bender Arena to improve to 3-0 for the first time since the 2001-02 season.
The Eagles were never threatened after erasing an early 15-9 deficit with a 28-4 run spanning nearly 8 1/2 minutes of the first half.
Talicia Jackson and Michelle Kirk each scored 13 points to lead American, which had four players score in double figures.
Tamaya Daniels had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Howard (0-2), which committed 33 turnovers.
· GEORGETOWN 83, BROWN 42: The Hoyas shot 53.1 percent and all 14 players scored in a rout of the Bears in Providence, R.I.
Reserve Meredith Cox scored 15 points in 16 minutes to lead Georgetown (2-0), which held Brown to 13 points in the first half. Freshman guard Adria Crawford (Edison) contributed 11 points and eight rebounds.
Hannah Passafuime scored 10 points for Brown (0-3).
· UMBC 89, GEORGE MASON 60: The Retrievers went on a 34-13 run over nearly 11 minutes of the second half and cruised past the visiting Patriots.
Senior center Brittney Wilkins scored a career-high 18 points to lead George Mason (0-3). Rashauna Hobbs scored 15 points and Brittany Poindexter added 13 for the Patriots, who shot 30.6 percent and committed 29 turnovers. Carlee Cassidy and Michelle Kurowski each scored 22 points for UMBC (1-1).
· NAVY 53, WINSTON-SALEM STATE 49: Angela Myers scored a team-high 10 points and made two free throws with six seconds left to help the visiting Midshipmen survive a cold-shooting second half.
Navy (2-1) shot 52.6 percent in the first half, led by as many as 15 points and never trailed. The Midshipmen missed 13 of 18 shots after halftime, however, as the Lady Rams (0-3) whittled the margin to two points.
