the ZORN zone | Coach Jim Zorn's Take on the Seahawks
The city of Seattle and the Seahawks organization have been a big part of Coach Jim Zorn's adult life, but he said he must focus on leading the Redskins to a victory.
"I know, deep down inside, I have work to do. I'm not going to be walking around as though it's something super great. I really need to walk around as though we're going to do business. That's really what I'm going to continue to concentrate on."
There could be some awkward moments, however, in facing his mentor, Coach Mike Holmgren, and many longtime friends on the coaching staff and team.
"It could be awkward, but I think Mike Holmgren has always faced the men that he's worked with with a lot respect. I'll certainly try to take his lead in treating the situation with respect as well. He has a great admiration for the game, for his coaching staff, for his team, for that city. He'll give us the due respect as well. That's what I want to do."
Despite the Seahawks' poor record and the injuries they have suffered, the Redskins will be challenged, Zorn said.
"I know the athletes they have on that team, I know those guys." Middle linebacker "Lofa Tatupu, he will not allow his group to slack at all. We know them, they know me. And then [quarterback] Matt Hasselbeck, he will do everything he can. He's a tremendous competitor. He'll do everything he can to put the ball in the right place and to run the offense the way it's supposed to be run."
